The only way I can shut down is to shut it down to DOS mode and then power down the system. This fix should have the following file attributes (or later): File name Version Date Time Size -------------------------------------------------------- Acpi.sys 4.10.2000 11/23/98 7:51pm 80256 bytes.

Couple of things first: This patch is not very clever nor fixes a problem with win98se's implementation of ACPI. It simply stops my computer crashing under light load (and will probably do the same for the other 3 people who seem to have the same problem). Can't promise its the best way of patching ACPI.SYS and

I'm getting an (going off the top of my head) IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO in ACPI.SYS. This system dual-boots with 98SE and shutdown still successfully powers down the system without a hitch. I'm inclined to believe this rules out any BIOS setting (why any of these would have changed to begin with, I don't know).

stop : 1e acpi.sys
Every time i try and install Winxp, I keep on getting stop error 0x0000007e due to ACPI.sys at the end of the setup and my machine restarts. I know i can disable ACPI in my BIOS setup, but where? I can't find it. Is there something else i can do? And recently i got stop error due to win32k.sys.

And I wanted to debug ACPI with kernel debugger(WinDbg) by replacing acpi.sys with checked build acpi.sys. I replaced system32\drivers\acpi.sys with checked version of acpi.sys. But in a few seconds after I overwrite acpi.sys with checked version, it automatically restore to original acpi.sys(retail version).
